As of 10:00pm Monday, May 16,1966, Omega Sigma Psi, a new sorority on the campus of Kean College was formulated. Our constitution and acceptance into the Inter-Fraternity Sorority Council was voted on and approved by the I.F.S.C. at the meeting held that night. The sorority at that time consisted of 13 sophomore girls.

 

On Tuesday, May 17, 1966, the girls were informed of their acceptance and plans were made for a celebration party to be held the following day.

 

On Wednesday, May 18, 1966, we had our first offical party between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm in the hex room of the Student Center building. A cake was brought in and 13 candles were placed on it commemorating the 13 original sisters. Flowers were given and pictures were taken. Letters of congratulations were received from all sororities and fraternities.

 

Our first offical meeting was held on Thursday, May 19,1966. 

 

The sorority is now 49 years old and has accomplished a great deal in those 49 years. We thank the original sisters for making Omega not the end, only the beginning.
